Call us  SOS/FAN was published in 2013, after more than a decade of research. When SOS/FAN was first published, the author was told it would be at least 10 years before it 'took off'. If America is to survive global warming, Americans must understand America's energy options plus America's environmental obligations; then cast their votes accordingly. When it comes to America's energy needs, Voters must put aside their political ideologies. Democrats, Republicans and Independents must come together and make sure America is on the path for a strong, stable economy which will provide the resources to successfully combat global warming.

------------------------------------------------ IF AMERICA IS TO SUCCESSFULLY CONFRONT GLOBAL WARMING, AMERICANS MUST FOCUS ON THE FIVE E's: Energy, Economy, Employment, Education and the Environment.

American Voters Will Eventually Select One of Two Options!

Americans can remain on the current path of reducing carbon emissions and watch America’s jobs continue to move to other countries which have few or no environmental regulations. But at some point Americans, along with most of the World, will be standing around ‘scratching their butts’ wondering what happened to America being the ‘Land of Opportunity’? America may have cleaned up its air quality but the overall emissions into the atmosphere will have continued to climb.

What if China, India and Russia join America and other developed countries working to reduce current and future CO2 emissions? As long as humans exist, there will be needs which must be met. Businesses in their pursuit of profits, will do what is necessary to maximize profits by supplying the needs of mankind. Think about it: How many less developed countries in the World would open their boarders for new industries to increase opportunities and improve the lives of their citizens with little or no regard for the environmental consequences? Since America and the rest of the ‘modern’ World will need the products these businesses produce, do you think America or any other country will go to war to stop businesses from relocating or force countries to enact economy crushing CO2 emission policies? Not a chance. The developed countries will take the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ philosophy.

American voters will eventually have to select one of two options: 1) Use all of America’s abundant fuel resources to create an economic system which can prepare Americans for climate change plus develop the technology required to combat global climate change. 2) Use all of America’s abundant fuel resources to prepare Americans for the consequences of climate change. Only the first option has any hope for halting climate change while all other options will arrive at the same destination: The end of modern society.

Climate change will not occur overnight. Most likely it will require significant time. But there will be unexpected weather events which might do irreversible damage to modern society long before the World completes this climate change cycle. What if there was a significant drought in the World’s food producing regions which lasted a few years? There would be a famine which could end modern society long before climate change was complete. An unimaginable scenario which can occur at any point in time!

Scientists, along with Earth’s history of climate changes, leave little doubt as to the fact Earth is undergoing climate change which is likely being accelerated by human efforts for the survival of the modern life style. If scientists are correct and Earth’s climate is controlled by atmospheric CO2 levels, humans have the opportunity to end Earth’s cycle of climate changes. Is this good or bad? No one knows but if humans are to avoid the path of the dinosaurs and other life forms which preceded mankind, defeating global climate change might be the required tactic.

The first really prominent environmentalist has to be Al Gore, President Bill Clinton’s Vice President and would have succeeded President Clinton except for a few ‘hanging chads’. Non-the-less, Mr. Gore has literally made millions of dollars advocating climate change. Now we’ve got President Barack Obama doing irreparable damage to America’s economy under guise of fighting climate change. It’s not their message but their short sighted, economically devastating and conceivably self-serving tactics. Americans must realize: America’s policy of reducing current and future CO2 emissions will have negligible or no effect on global climate change. Even if America abandoned fossil fuels completely, which is not possible, the World would continue on its path of climate change unimpeded.

Do Americans have to stand by and watch jobs and opportunities move to other countries as the cost for combating climate change? Not only is the answer NO, but unless America creates a strong economy to contest climate change, America will have to create a strong economy to prepare Americans for the consequences of climate change. Either way, America can return to being the World’s Land of Opportunity. It’s up to the American voters!
