Stop Big Oil from Exporting America’s Crude Oil!

It’s 2 am and I cannot sleep. Why? There is a movement by oil producers to convince Washington to remove the ban against exporting America’s crude oil and no one seems to be questioning Big Oil’s motivation to overturn the law! Big Oil, as any business should be, is focused on profits and now that oil prices have fallen to a level which are significantly less than Big Oil has enjoyed for years; they intend on doing whatever is necessary to get oil prices back up to the point which once again results in cash gushing from the consumers, (i.e. you and me), to Big Oil.

The argument provided by Big Oil, (which will hereafter be referred to as BO due to the fact that something smells), is the loss of jobs. If BO prospers, jobs will be created within and outside BO’s industry which is true but at the same time, while BO prospers, most middle class Americans will be struggling with a faltering American economy while many industries continue to leave America for countries which provide better conditions for profitability. In other words, America returns to the dismal era which has distressed Americans for most of this century.

If Americans allow BO to export America’s crude oil, there is no chance for Americans to benefit from energy independence. Additionally, if Americans allow BO to export America’s crude oil, Americans will be forfeiting the future of not only the Americans now living but the future of Americans not yet born! No question, there will be jobs created by an expanding oil industry but a far more stronger economy can be created by using America’s oil to fuel America’s economy, providing many more jobs for Americans. As a matter of fact, rather than removing America’s ban on crude oil exports, Americans need to push for controls on the export of gasoline and diesel produced from American oil. For example, gasoline and diesel produced from American crude oil can only be exported once the energy needs of Americans has been supplied.

At this point it must be restated that BizzEB accepts the fact that Earth is undergoing a period of climate change in the form of global warming which is likely being accelerated by mankind’s consumption of fossil fuels. But BizzEB reiterates the fact that since there is currently more than enough carbon in Earth’s atmosphere to make Earth’s climate extremely uncomfortable to mankind, the corrective action which must be adopted is a tenacious effort to develop technology which will allow mankind to monitor and reduce atmospheric carbon levels. Only a strong, expanding American economy will be capable of funding such a monumental undertaking. No amount in the reduction in current and future carbon emissions will return the balance of the exchange of carbon between Earth and Earth’s atmosphere to a level which will undo the damages done in the past. Even if it were possible to totally eliminate mankind reliance on fossil fuels, global climate change would continue unabated. Every American, including environmentalists must acknowledge the fact that: The opportunity for mankind to avoid the detrimental impact of fossil fuels was forfeited with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

Without a doubt the only solution for mankind to conquer Earth’s recurring climate change is if America creates the economy necessary to fund the development of the technology to return Earth’ atmospheric carbon level to a point which is more conducive for human life. And the fact is that today and in the foreseeable future, there is no substitute for oil and fossil fuels and if America is to create the economy required to combat global climate change, Americans will need to embrace America’s vast fossil fuel resources. As in any encounter, sometimes the best strategy is a retreat or step back to create a better situation to move forward and rest assured, mankind is in a battle of survival and the sooner this fact is accepted, the sooner Americans can come together and overcome the enemy; that is global climate change in the current form of global warming.
