SOS/FAN was published in 2013, after more than a decade of research. When SOS/FAN was first published, the author was told it would be at least 10 years before it 'took off'. If America is to survive global warming, Americans must understand America's energy options plus America's environmental obligations; then cast their votes accordingly. When it comes to America's energy needs, Voters must put aside their political ideologies. Democrats, Republicans and Independents must come together and make sure America is on the path for a strong, stable economy which will provide the resources to successfully combat global warming.
There should be little doubt that Earth is regularly undergoing climate change as it has countless times for millions of years. But this time is different. Earth has a relatively new life form with a level of intelligence never before seen on Earth. Humans have the intelligence to develop and consume Earth’s resources in a manner which can and does impact Earth’s environment and even the natural changes in climate.
Unfortunately, until recently, mankind did not fully understand the environmental consequences which transpired as innovations in technology allowed for humans to live better, simpler and healthier lives. Since the start of the Industrial Revolution, approximately 250 years ago, Earth’s human population has exploded from less than 1 billion to more than 7 billion. Along with this dramatic increase in population there was a sudden increase in carbon emissions into Earth’s atmosphere. As matter of fact, Earth has not seen such a high level of atmospheric carbon in at least 800,000 years.
The conundrum confronting mankind is how to maintain, as well as enhance, the way we now live and at the same time take actions which will allow humans to mitigate the environmental consequences of continuously increasing human activity. Since there is no chance for a unified effort by the World’s nations to combat global climate change, Americans must accept the responsibility for undoing the environmental damage of the past as well as control future environmental damages which will continue as long as mankind exists.
Scientific research indicates the level of atmospheric carbon influences Earth’s climate. Global warming appears to be accelerating due to the historically high level of carbon in Earth’s atmosphere. —- Where environmentalists are deceiving Americans, as well as all mankind, is their advocacy of the idea that by reducing present and future carbon emissions, global climate change will cease.
