Exporting America’s Crude Oil is Exporting the Future of Americans!

The oil industry is pushing for the overturn of America’s prohibition of the export of America’s crude oil and they will succeed unless the American voters unite against it! Quite simply, if this regulation is overturned, the oil industry will be selling the future of all Americans including Americans not yet born! Until there is a viable alternative to oil, Americans cannot allow America’s oil to be exported. Actually, America’s ban on the export of America’s crude oil should be expanded to include a prohibition of exporting gasoline, diesel and other energy products produced from American oil. If America is to create jobs by competing in the global markets, America must utilize its vast fossil fuel resources. This is the only competitive advantage Americans have over the rest of the world. Americans cannot compete with the rest of the world with lower wages and retain the lifestyle Americans have created.

Environmentalists need not get upset. As stated in most BizzEB blogs, overcoming global climate change will not occur simply by reducing America’s carbon emissions. The World needs food and other essentials which cannot be produced without fossil fuels. If America does not use its vast natural energy resources to fuel a strong, expanding economy, global climate change will continue unabated.

Technology in the form of robotics is replacing manual labor. Large factories require energy to operate. America can provide the low cost energy required to fuel new manufacturing facilities. America can supply the materials and land required to construct the new manufacturing facilities. America can supply the labor required to construct, staff, operate and maintain new manufacturing facilities. But, with the exception of ready access to low cost, reliable and secure energy, so can virtually every other country.

The arguments put forth by the oil industry supporting the overturn of America’s ban on exporting crude oil may appear convincing but just always remember: If America exports its oil, America is exporting its future. Americans cannot standby and allow the energy industry to sell America’s future, as well as the future of the World, for short term profits.

Let your representatives in Washington know you oppose the export of America’s crude oil as well as the gasoline and diesel produced from America’s crude oil! Rest assured, the short term economic benefits which may or may not be realized will more than be offset by long term energy cost increases Americans will have to bear in the future. America must protect its vast energy resources and use those resources to offset the labor and other advantages countries use to take jobs from Americans.
